Rap mogul Jay-Z joined forces with New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg yesterday to announce a new plan for the city.
According to the New York Post the initiative, named Summer Streets, is a pilot program that will close off seven miles of streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park in an effort to combat congestion. A Brooklyn native himself, Jay said the project would provide teens an opportunity to get involved in positive things. As part of the plan, the city will block traffic along parts of Lafayette Street, Fourth Avenue, Park Avenue and 72nd Street from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the next three Saturdays. In related news, Jay-Z announced plans for the Blueprint 3 earlier this week. Jay also made an unexpected appearance at the close of Kanye West’s concert in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night and the pair performed “Jockin’ Jay-Z,” a new track that may appear on the upcoming Blueprint 3. |
