Jermaine Dupri’s newest arsenal of talent comes in the form of four ethnically diverse singers with a penchant for lovely ladies, long hair, and looking fresh. Git Fresh—Penny, 21; Rude Boi, 23; Mike Ezay, 23; and Pretti Sly, 24—may look like a team of rappers with their tattooed frames and glittering adornments, but the sounds they emit are more soulful croons than rowdy raps.

Seated at a conference table among a slew of media at Island Def Jam, the four R&B dudes presented a sampling of tunes off of their self-titled debut, hitting store shelves on October 7th. Their most notable track, “Booty Music,” was the kicker that put them on the map in their hometown of South Florida. The scintillating ode has earned the team spins at radio nationwide and a video, which they shot in the Dominican Republic last week.

At Jermaine Dupri’s urging, Git Fresh belted out a few bars a cappella-style from “Wet,” a record off their debut, to prove their talent isn’t fostered at the hands of audio equipment. Despite a failed attempt to reach the pinnacle of R&B success while signed to Jive Records, the So So Def/Island Def Jam signees have prevailed by leaning on one another.

“We’ve been grinding together for so long and have gone through hard times,” Pretti Sly explains. “It’s just brought us together.”
