50 Cent's acting career has taken a big step forward as he is set to replace veteran actor Forest Whitaker in a new flick by Sylvester Stallone. 50 will have big shoes to fill in Stallone's "The Expendables" which follows a team of mercenaries headed to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator, who has caused devastation for the last 20 years.
The film also stars Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, and many others. Though news of the casting change hasn't been received well, Sylvester Stallone, who wrote and is directing the film, assures fans the change will work. "The anger of the casting of 50 Cent is understandable, but not fair." Says Stallone in an online statement released to Ain't It Cool News. "A player is only as good as his coach. If a man can communicate in one medium, he can communicate in another if his strengths are brought out and he has the support of well-wishers. So, trust me, the change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent AKA Curtis Jackson is a good one. No one thought Dolph Lundgren was a good choice for ROCKY or Mr. T." Production of the film began on March 3, 2009 and filming will start on March 28 and complete in June. It is slated to hit theaters in 2010. |
