Irv Gotti Blames Jay-Z For Sparking Celebrity Couples, "I Don't Think Most Are Real"

Murder Inc. head Irv Gotti recently spoke on today's celebrity couples and cited Jay-Z as the motivation behind the upsurge in high profile relationships.

Speaking with radio personality Angie Martinez, Irv justified pointing the finger at Jay for sparking celebrity couples.

"I just don't think most [celebrity relationships] are real and have a real foundation," Irv explained. "I don't think that it started with real love and everything. I think the way Hov is, everyone started getting on these celebrity couples after they seen Hov and [Beyonce] which I believe is the one true, real one. I want 'em to make it. I like those two alot. Hov is my brother and I'm just happy for them now. But they thing looks really real and with everyone else, it's like Hov tells you to take off your throwbacks and put on button-downs and that's what they do. They see Hov with the power couple and that's what they doing. That's like what's 'in' now." (Hot 97)

Both Nas and Kelis recently announced plans to divorce late last week.

Kelis wants to end her marriage to Nas, even though she's 7 months pregnant. Kelis filed for divorce today in L.A. County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. She is asking for spousal support and child support. She is also asking for joint legal and physical custody of their unborn child. (TMZ)

To further illustrate I've point, Kanye West recently bigged up Jay for his "trend-setting" styles.

"T.I. has a great effortless sense of style [and] Jay has set mad trends and is the [Frank] Sinatra of our era," Ye wrote via his blog last week. "Nobody is as fresh as Ralph Lauren himself, only Andre 3000 and [Mr.] Bentley get close but there's still work to do. Irv's "Gotti's Way 2" is on deck to premiere next week.

This season follows the unique lives of record producer Irv Gotti, his estranged wife Deb and their three children where we'll see Irv under pressure to keep up with the changes in the music industry while trying to keep his record label relevant.
