Words by Miles Bennett ![]() There was a beef brewing in the world of hip-hop, as if there weren't enough of them. This one's between teenage rapper Soulja Boy Tell'em and newcomer Charles Hamilton. In new blog entries on his official site, IAmNotCharlesHamilton.com, the up-and-coming rapper clarified the feud, while weighing options about what he should do. "My whole fanbase are saying to murder the kid on a track," he wrote. "The Hamilton Administration says play it to my favor. The hood says leave him alone, he's just a kid. The haters are starting campaigns against me, I guess to vote me out the industry." "To the thirsty-ass bloggers, this is NOT beef. He would even tell you that. He ain't built to have BEEF," he continued. The two started going back and forth after an interview Hamilton did with ThisIs50.com, in which he said he didn't want to be compared to Soulja Boy because he has damaged younger artists' credibility. Soulja Boy, in response, said that the rapper shouldn't blame him for any failure he experiences, and suggested that he switch up his swag by changing his infatuation with the video game "Sonic the Hedgehog" to maybe "Super Mario Bros." According to Hamilton, Soulja Boy's response only came because he is in need of publicity for his upcoming album, but did say he respects what Soulja Boy has been able to accomplish. "Soulja Boy is gonna be on the cover of XXL supposedly in the next month. Has an album dropping 12/16," Hamilton said. "This has got to be a dream come true for someone whose lyrical capabilities are that of a Blackberry without a battery, SIM card or buttons to push. And I TOTALLY respect his money-makin' hustle." In the end, Hamilton seems to wait to dead any tension, saying that his fans and friends shouldn't mention Soulja Boy's name on his blog again. ------------------------------------------------- |
