![]() Released: 04/21/92 Label: Ruthless Records/Priority Records 1992:#76 US 1992:#28 Top R&B/Hip-Hop 1992:#1 Heatseakers RIAA: Gold Paid the Cost is the debut album by rap duo Penthouse Players Clique. The album was released in 1992 for Ruthless Records and was produced by DJ Quik, DJ Battlecat and Eazy-E. The album was a success for the group, making it to #76 on the Billboard 200, #28 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #1 on the Top Heatseekers album charts. Three singles were released, "Explanation of a Playa", "Trust No Bitch" and "P.S. Phuk U 2", however only "Explanation of a Playa" would make it to the billboard charts. This would mark the duos only album as they would disband only a year later. 1. N-Trance: I like the intro on this. Nice way to start an album. 2. Undaground: I think this might be my favorite track out of this CD. I love the beat and the flow on this. 3. Chekmate: I like this song, good beat and flow. 4. Trust No Bitch (Featuring AMG, DJ Quik & Eazy-E): DJ Quik starts off with his verse in this funky track. Then it goes to playa hamm, Eazy-E, and last is AMG. One of my favorites and a west coast classic track. 5. U Can't Check Me: I thought this song was alright. Decent verses and so was the beat. Pretty short of a song. 6. Jealous Knukle Heads: Shortest song on the album. I thought it was ok. 7. Jus 2 Kep Yo Attenchun (Featuring Battlecat & D-Nasty): I like this song a lot. Very nice beat and flow. 8. P.L.F.: Another decent track. I liked the beat but not the way they went with their verses. 9. Blak Iz A Poet: I liked this one. Just one of those funky tracks. 10. Explanation Of A Playa: One of the singles for the album. This is also a good track. I didn't think they should of used this one as one of their singles. Should of used Trust No Bitch. I understand there's a music video for this one and unfortunately I couldn't find it. 11. They Don't Know: Another favorite track of mine on this one. I like how the guitar starts off and then a funky ass beat comes in. 12. Nathan's Changed: I thought this song was good. Beat is good and so are the verses. 13. YouTube - Penthouse Players Clique - PS Phuck U 2 ft. Eazy-E: Eazy-E starts off talkin and then Playa Hamm goes off with a good flow. The beat couldn't be done better. 14. Smooth: Didn't like this track too much. Didn't like the beat or the verses. 15. Handle Yo Bizness: A 2 minute interlude. Can't really rate those kind of interludes. 16. Pimp Lane: Song starts off with a funky beat right away. I also like their flow. 17. X-It: The beat is the same as the intro. They didn't really say much in that. Overall, I give this album..... ![]() ![]() ![]() 1/2*Notes*: It's too bad Penthouse Players Clique only made one album. I just downloaded this CD yesterday and I liked it a lot. I wonder what happened? Besides from all that, I liked the guests that they put on their album (Eazy-E, DJ Quik, AMG). I would definitely download this CD if you're a big fan of the west coast rap and G-Funk, because this CD is bangin! Also, if you have the music video for that one song and have a link up for it, pm me so I can put it up. Make sure you rep yOGi420™ because he's the one who uploaded it on here.
