Portsmouth fire Adams after four months

British media is reporting Portsmouth have fired manager Tony Adams after less than four months in charge after a dismal run in which the English Premier League side has not won since November.

According to broadcaster Sky Sports and Portsmouth publication The News, the former Arsenal captain was fired overnight, 24 hours after his side twice threw away a lead over Liverpool before losing 3-2.

There was no immediate response from Portsmouth to the report.

Adams has won just two of his 16 league matches since taking charge in October when Harry Redknapp joined Tottenham.

In that time the club has slipped from seventh to 16th in the 20-team league and is just a point clear of the relegation zone.

Adams last enjoyed a league win November 30 against Blackburn.

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has been mentioned as a possible replacement.
