Default Milan add "indispensable" Becks to UEFA Cup squad

AC Milan have confirmed David Beckham has been included on their updated UEFA Cup player list - fuelling speculation they may try to keep him beyond his short-term loan.

The England midfielder has been in impressive form since joining the Italian club last month and it has been widely reported he will stay beyond March 9, when he is due back at parent club the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said after last night's 3-0 defeat of Lazio: ''Right now he is indispensable for us. We have included Beckham in the UEFA Cup list because he is doing very well.

''We want to take advantage of his form for the two games against Werder Bremen (on February 18 and 26).''

Beckham had been a doubt before the game with a leg muscle problem but started and provided goals for Alexandre Pato and Massimo Ambrosini either side of half-time.

Kaka killed the game off with seven minutes remaining.

Beckham, whose side are second in Serie A, would not be drawn when asked about the chances of him staying beyond March.

"Of course I've said before I'm happy to be playing here," he told reporters. "It's a great club with great players and now we are in a good position. I'm taking each game as it comes and enjoying it."

Beckham joined Milan to stay in the England reckoning during the long U.S. close season and he is now hopeful of a place in Fabio Capello's squad for the February 11 friendly in Spain.

"The manager has said it about every player, if players are playing well and are fit they've got a chance of being in the squad. That's all I can do," he added. "I hope I get picked, if not I'll carry on enjoying my football here and work hard."

Meanwhile Milan club administrator Adriano Galliani has claimed his club will go the extra mile to keep Beckham at the San Siro, saying: ''We really want to keep him, but it depends on Galaxy.

''We will hope to do so until the last minute because in any case, hope always keeps you young. To lose him would be a blow, hence, we will make every sacrifice and every attempt to keep him.''

''When he joined us we expected him to do well but we didn't think he would do so well,'' Galliani said.

Long-term injury victims Alessandro Nesta and Gennaro Gattuso are also on Milan's new UEFA Cup list which teams cannot add to for the remainder of the season.

Inter Milan, who face holders Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, have again left striker Hernan Crespo off their European squad list, coach Jose Mourinho said earlier.

AS Roma have signed Udinese defender Marco Motta on loan, the club said in a statement, with media reports saying he would be included in their Champions League squad list which must be completed on Sunday. The transfer window closes on Monday.

Okay, but if Milan goes long in UEFA-cup, he have to leave before that anywayz...
But yeah Beckham has been strong now in Milan. I saw the match against Lazio. And 2/3 goals came from Beckham's passes. And i think he scored goals in previous matches.
